Watermark, Markings of Nature - Selected Works

August 14 to 31st August, 2014
Linton and Kay Galleries, Subiaco WA

For me there is a bounty of metaphors and meanings found in nature and reflected in the landscape. I translate my response to these into artworks that are in essence abstract and speak of transience, memory and relationship.

'Hide I'
Ink on hand formed paper - 33cm x 33cm

'Hide II'
Ink on hand formed paper - 33cm x 33cm

The sensuality of the organic inspires me to make textural works of hand formed paper, an ideal medium to pursue ranges of possibilities in surface and structure. Paper has always been an important element in my work, and after working in Basel, Switzerland in 2012 with the Basel Paper Mill, it has become central to my practice.
