Elixir

The artistic journey of exploring the transitory and interconnected nature of things, has inspired me to employ symbolic mediums and techniques in my practice.

I fell in love with the lustre and lacy patterns of wild silk cocoons when I first used them in the piece ‘Chalice” that won the Mandorla Award last year. I have now further developed their use as a medium, combining them with indigo dye, suminagashi, graphite, and thread on washi paper.

The resultant body of work is both layered and contemplative, it conveys a sense of the ephemeral and suggests radiant transcendence. This exhibition, ‘Elixir’ speaks of being embedded in a world of constant change, growth and healing, metamorphosis, alchemy, and the sacred.
